What Are Your Quit Smoking Options?

Everyone is different and because this is so you will find that some people prefer certain methods and devices to help them stop smoking while you prefer others.

I will outline some options to help you on your mission.

1. The Cold Turkey Method – This means that you withdraw from smoking altogether, meaning a sudden drop instead of a gradual decrease of nicotine levels. This may drive you nuts if you haven’t tried quitting before. If you do give in don’t beat yourself up but don’t give up the mission either. Note how long you went without and try to break the record. After time the gap will get larger and larger until you find you never need to smoke ever again.

2. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) – This means you stop smoking cigarettes but use a device that keeps nicotine in your system at the level you had when you where smoking and then you lower the level gradually over time so it’s not as immediately uncomfortable as the cold turkey method. Devices include chewing gum, patches that you put on your skin which release nicotine into the body. If you like the habit of having and a cigarette in your hand and inhaling you may want to try fake cigarettes which look as close as possible to real cigarettes but only contain nicotine. Then you change the cartridges to lower levels as time progresses.

3. Hypnosis or Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) – The subconscious mind is a powerful thing and in a war between the conscious and the subconscious minds the subconscious usually wins. In it are deep emotional beliefs that influence everything we do. Under hypnosis you are guided into a state of mind which allows these beliefs to be changed to help you instead of hinder.

No matter which method you choose you have to have a strong desire and motivation to stop smoking.
